Ive watched a video recently (cant really remember which one). The guy said something about motherboard companies implemented bios updates that no longer allows people to overclock non-K cpu on h81 boards.

My question is... is this really true? I tried looking for a post on the web but cant find any information regarding this matter.

Really need someone to clarify this matter, Im at a loss.

Thx

is there any way to reverse the update if its already come pre installed?
is it dangerous?

updating bios always carries a risk, downgrading it to a version from before it was supplied is bound to void the warranty. They may have flashed something on the board to prevent older bios's from work, it's certainly feasible to do that, which could end up in a bricked board. You need someone with deep pockets who's done it before, with the bios you get and the board you get at the revision you get.

If i decided to downgrade a particular board's bios, worse come to worst is that just the warranty is voided? If thats the case im okay with it. I mean H81 boards are not that expensive like those X99s.

One more thing, is downgrading a bios same as upgrading one? Same process or is it a little bit trickier?

You're using a G3258 which can be overclocked. I dont know if using a non-oc'able cpu will yield the same results.
My cousin is running 4460 with an asus h81m-k and i am not able to find anything that will overclock the cpu. I wonder what is the problem.

I missed the "non-K" part, i have no experience in overclocking non-K cpu's
