Optimal hard drive cooling inside case question

I'm looking at a Silverstone ps12 which holds four hard drives horizontally right behind the fan. They are grouped in two's meaning two hard drives mounted in the cage with one right above the other with barely no space between them, and the other two slightly below around a cm in between both sets. It's not ideal for me having them right next to each other like that but being behind the fan means at least they'll get good air coming through them.

The other case I'm looking at is a Sharkoon M1000, quality is is way better and it comes with a front 140mm fan and rear 120 fan. This case only allows for two hard drives, stored vertically one on top of the other at the lower half of the case behind the fan. There is one more 3.5'' bay above the fan and the chassis allows for converting one 5.25 bay to fit another hard drive right below the disk drive.

I like the second case more, it's better quality metal, plastics and overall build quality, has two fans and costs exactly the same as the Silverstone. It also comes with two usb 2.0 and two 3.0 ports at the front as opposed to the 2, 3.0 ports on the Silverstone.
My slight concern, not knowing anything about internal airflow is that the two drives mounted on the upper part of the case in the 3.5 and 5.25 bay will have no airflow going through them at all which would seem fine for short periods, but I leave my pc on 24/7.
I wonder if maybe the rear internal fan would be sufficient in moving or pulling air from the upper front area where the two extra drives would be located. I guess I could open up the 5.25 or 3.25 front cover to let air in through the front but then there would be more dust coming into the case.

I'd like input on these two options for overall cooling and hard drive cooling. Please don't suggest other models are these are the two I've settled on based on size and availability.

Maybe I am overthinnking it but my current setup has a similar situation with two drives up top and they are around 5o-52c in the summer while the two on the bottom, also not cooled but with their own vents are 45-48c. I'd like the optimal amount of cooling or airflow for these drive which is why I asked.
