Is the 5960X Overkill For These Programs That I Use??

So I'm thinking about buying the 5960x, but on the other hand I think it's overkill and also it's very expensive it's a thousand dollar processor! These are the programs I use for EDITING AND VIDEO PRODUCTIVITY!!
adobe premiere pro cc, adobe after effects cs6, handbrake, sony begas pro 13, dxtory, fraps, obs, adobe photoshop cs6. Do these kind of softwares really need those extra 4 cores on the 5960x since most mainstream processors today are quad core processors.

I wouldn't say Overkill but, more like not worth that much to spend on. since you can get very good performance with a i7 6800k which costs under half the price.

You'd probably do just fine with a hexa-core Intel, and save yourself quite a bit of $.

Compared a 6-core, 5960X has 33% more cores for ~100% more money, so it's really not recommended unless you absolutely require every drop of speed you can get.
