I understand that it helps rendering videos and slightly improves fps with higher ghz, but aside from gaming and rendering what would you notice improvements in from going from a AMD Phenom II 6 core (2.7ghz) to a i7-6850k (4.0 ghz)? on daily computing, would your computer boot slightly faster, will tabs open faster? are things i'm wondering about

Thanks for reading.

Daily computing? basically nothing, since anything including a raspberry PI is enough for "daily computing"

For video editing? At least double the performance, likely much, much more thanks to AVX
For daily computing (IE web browser, word processing, etc) there would be marginal difference at best, not even starting to become near worth the cost.

If you want a performance boost the absolute best thing you can do is get a Samsung SSD drive and make that your boot drive (drive with widows on it).

If in the future you need to upgrade then for daily computing a Core i3 cpu is more then sufficient and you will not notice enough of a difference to make an i5 or i7 worth the cost.

Now when you start looking at gaming, 3d modeling, photo/video editing, etc that is a whole different matter.
