Cowon X9 not Playing Video Files

I recent received my X9 purchase. I am attempting to convert some video file to play on my X9. Upon transferring the converted files to the Flash drive (using a card reader), the player shown a blank image with a red circle containing the red slash across it. I got the same result when I loaded the file in the players internal memory. The converted file plays well on my laptop using my media player (VLC). I narrowed the problem down to an issue with the audio portion of the video files (The video file does play with the audio part disabled during the conversion process).
