Hey eveyone, as I said before I know next to nothing about PC's so heres my question:

Is the AMD A10 7800 compatible with the AMD FX 6300?

Meaning my PC now has a A10 7800, and i'm looking into getting an FX 6300.

Basically, will it fit.

Thanks in advanced, Ryan

No, they are on different CPU sockets and you would require a new motherboard. The A10 uses the FM2+ socket, while the FX 6300 uses the AM3+ socket. You already effectively have the best FM2+ CPU, so if you need more CPU performance, you're looking at a new motherboard as well.

AM3+ is on its way out, so I wouldn't recommend getting an FX 6300 at this time. I'd say either look at an Intel build, or if you can't; save up and wait 6 months to see what AMD's Zen on AM4 offers.
