Hi guys,

I have just created my account to ask this question and I do not know the etiquette of this community so if it's the wrong way to ask, please forgive me.

So I wanted to upgrade the memory of my old PC which has gigabyte GA-EP43 DS3L motherboard. At the moment I have got 2 x 2GB Strontium PC800 DDR2 RAM on it.

I found this RAM on e-Bay at a great price and almost ordered it but the note there says:
"Attention: It is high density. It is only compatible with AMD motherboard and can not work in any"

I am really confused as I do not know what the high density means in this context. Can you please confirm if this is compatible with my motherboard and if it is safe to make the purchase?

Cheers,
M

There's a list of compatible models at download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Memory/motherboard_memory_ga-ep43-ds3l.pdf

I would recommend not bothering with that though, a new but cheap computer will be cheaper in the long run...

I plan on setting it up as a mini server for our company's web scraping tasks. For what we need, it works out cheaper than paying monthly for virtual private server costs.

Do you think it's worth trying? The RAM is just $19. Even if it improves performance slightly, that will be a huge return on investment for me. Is it compatible though?

Thanks

I would recommend not bothering with that though, a new but cheap computer will be cheaper in the long run (since electrical costs are a concern). Have you checked if you actually need more memory? Most likely you'll be limited by network bandwidth and CPU power long before you hit memory limits.
