How to test a CPU

Hi,

I recently bought a second hand CPU (i5 4670). It seems to be working and the temps also seem fine but I was wondering how I give it a rigorous test to make sure.

Would appreciate it if you could provide details on how to test or provide a link.

Prime95 version 26.6, test with small FFT's for 10 mins. If it's stable with temps and no shutdowns/reboots you should be all set.

Stress it with a program like realbench. Monitor temperatures make sure they don't go too high. Generally, if there's something wrong with a CPU it won't POST let alone run. Google is your friend.

Thanks a lot to you both.

Decided to use Prime95 and the settings WildCard suggested. Ran for about 8 minutes and the cooler was silent (go Raijintek Aidos for cheap cooler), max temp on core 1 was 69C and rest of cores slightly cooler. Used MSI afterburner to monitor temps. Idle was 25C.

Looks like I got a bargain CPU.
