What is sufficient amount of ram memory?

depends on your level of multitasking.
Games will rarely use more than 2-3gb by themselves. 8gb is fine for gaming if you are not running a lot of other apps concurrently.
For higher levels of multitasking, 2 x 8gb will do the job. Ram is cheap today, so if in doubt, get 16gb. There is no negative other than the added cost.

Will any memory work or do I need to use the motherboard book and use only what it says cause it only shows 4x4 not really any 2x8gbs.
