Will DVD ROM run CD Rom

My DVD/CD drive broke and none of the troubleshooting tips worked so I need to get an external drive but it says CD RW and DVD ROM. I'm probably being stupid but can you please tell me.Thanks

It's the same thing. I actually doubt you''ll find a drive that doesn't do the same, they are all now DVD and CD readers and writers. The "RW" thing just means it can burn that kind of disc, but it does not affect its capability of reading them. Exactly what are you looking to buy?
