So I'm pretty new to overclocking, and the idea of it sounded nice so I wanted to experiment with it, but I think I may have screwed up on something or didnt do something right and I'm afraid I may damage my CPU overtime. So, what's the defaults for this processor, and what settings do you recommend if I wanted a stable clock. I have a H100i GTX cooler with Arctic Silver 5 paste if that helps. Also what does that green circle do on the top, could never figure that out

Solution
First of all, disable any overclock currently applied and give this guide a read; http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/272214-29-wolfram-beginner-guide-overclocking.

Secondly, make sure that your PSU is in tier one or two in this list; http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html.

Thirdly, overclock through the BIOS.

There are no defaults and no recommended settings when it comes to overclocking. Every overclock is different, even if the hardware is exactly the same.

Learning how to overclock takes time and jumping in with no idea of what you're doing is the worst thing you can do.
