I have a computer running a 2nd or 3rd gen I3 CPU I've used as a HTPC for years now. My kids are getting into minecraft and I'd like them to be able to play with me. MC runs okay on the machine as is, but not great.

Anyone have a recommendation for the best (yet cheap) video card that would help out when playing minecraft? The motherboard only has a PCIe x16 slot.

GT 730 isn't bad for minecraft as mentioned above. I know that you can grab a GTX 650ti for ~$57 dollars on ebay, and GTX 660 for not much more. These would be good options for running minecraft on 1080p with farthest render distance. Also, make sure to use 64bit Java and to uninstall the 32bit Java, as minecraft usually defaults to the slower 32bit.
