I don't know if im posting in the right category, but after trying to install a Windows XP copy into my hard drive I can't access BIOS or get past the screen where I can press a key to access BIOS unless I unplug the harddrive.

Solution
I fixed it by setting the boot to my windows cd, letting it past the BIOS with the hdd unplugged, then plugging the hdd and reinstalling windows completely again. Thanks for your response anyways!
Hi there tomacco06,

Unfortunately, it is possible that there is something wrong with the drive.

My suggestion would be to attach the drive to another, working system as a secondary drive. In case the issue persists and the whole system hangs, then the drive has failed.
In case the system does not hang, you can test the drive with some of these and see if it is in a healthy state: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

As you are trying to reformat it, I believe you have no data stored on it right?

Cheers,
D_Know_WD :)
