Hi all, this is the build in question: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/linejumpr/saved/yv72FT

What's been happening so far, is that when I go to boot, my cpu POST led blink 4 times and then my Ram led stays a solid red and I cannot get anything to display or go into BIOS. All of this started 3 days after installing into a new case, and I have been using this CPU and MOBO for 3 weeks.

I have taken the mobo out of the case, disconected all unnecessary devices, ensured all power headers are properly set, and tried every permutation of ram (including no ram). I've also tried disconnecting my heatsink to check the mobo's pins (which were perfectly normal).

And something odd with this problem is that the only way I can get anything to display, and the only way I can get to my BIOS is by letting my cpu overheat, which causes a reboot into BIOS.

I really feel like I've tried everything and I really might just RMA my mobo and or CPU.

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Solution
If I was that friend, I'd be a bit reluctant. Defective components might damage other parts.
Not talking about the hassle to uninstall and re-install the system.
I'd say to simply RMA them.

Yeah every hole matched a standoff, and I was getting the same errors after dismounting my Motherboard

Ok. Do you know if there is any way to tell if your cpu is fine? Do you think I could possibly put into a friends working mobo and see if it works? I just don't really want to have to wait for 2 different RMA orders when the CLU might be ok
