Hi Tomshardware,

I recently got back from deployment, and due to storage issues, my computer had to sit in storage for about 9 months, from november until middle of july.
I know thats not ideal, but its the best i could come up with, given my circumstances.

Anyways, onto the issue
I've been experiencing some very odd computer freezing lately, and event viewer is showing nothing besides 'unexpected shutdown'. When it freezes, the only way i could get the PC to restart is holding the power button.

How i've replicated the problem.. sorta..:
Usually occurs if i'm playing a game, watching a youtube video, and having 2-3 more tabs going at once on my computer.
A couple of times, it's happened when i've had two RS game clients running and watching a video on my other monitor. My CPU usage nor memory ever climbed to red-levels.
I've also gotten two WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR bluescreens. in the past two days.

(All of these symptoms have started since the past couple of days. I brought my computer back into use a little over 3 weeks ago.)

Build specs:

Was the PC stored in a non climate controlled storage unit? Did it get cold at all and pretty hot during the different seasons?

There can be a few things at factor here. Too cold tends to be hard on a hard drive. You can run Disk bench marks to know for sure, Crystaldisk infor will sometimes give ya warnings and tell ya about the HDD

Crystaldisk Info http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskInfo/index-e.html
Crystaldisk Mark http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskMark/index-e.html This sill test your HDD for speed putting some load on the HDD.

Cold can change the properties of thermal paste, though being to hot wouldn't really change how it works, but cold and ruin thermal paste, both on your video card and CPU and...
Personally I'd start with the blue screen error issue. (I shall merely facilitate thought processes and eliminating possibilities...)

This thread mentions the particular error code: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2807057/whea-uncorrectable-error.html
Check that out and see if it helps one aspect of the issues you're having.

According to MS's own site it is an indication of a hardware problem. It does seem there are cases where additional information is available which may indicate a more specific issue.

With an expected shutdown, I'm thinking the CPU has overheated. (And seeing the number of cooling issues lately related to liquid coolers, I'm erring towards an overheating issue. Have you got a hardware monitoring program of some sort to look at your temperatures? Could be handy if you do.)

For the life of me, I don't see your power supply specified in the list of components.

Also, have you cleaned out any possible dust (and spiderwebs, etc.) that may have accumulated inside the case during storage?

Event viewer should show thermal events as the CPU starts to throttle if heat was an issue. Power - maybe.

Run the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool, see if it reports throttling, what temps and if the processor passes all checks.

Cold can change the properties of thermal paste, though being to hot wouldn't really change how it works, but cold and ruin thermal paste, both on your video card and CPU and VRM's/southbridge on the motherboard possibly. So check temps! If it also got really cold, you have to make sure your water pump is working, being frozen at 1 time could mess up the pump internally.

If temps are in check, start by taking the ram out and clean the contacts, I use a pencil eraser and alcohol to clean them.

Someone also mentioned powersupply, what brand and model is the powersupply?
