Title basically says it all but for a little more info - I recently built the machine myself specs will be posted below and I have installed all relevant drivers, etc. I first noticed the stuttering around last week Friday, I'm hesitant to say "freezing" because its more like the machine 'hangs up' or gets stuck on a task, for instance, I'd be playing a game (BF4) and it would drop me from the game, first I thought it was internet connection issues but I get a solid 80Mb/ps down so it's not that.

Then I realised my computer was stuttering and hanging up, I tried to open a program when I realised it started doing it and it just didn't open until the hang up went through. I'm usually on Skype with mates so it becomes really noticeable as the Skype call will drop, like it's my internet and Skype will give me the spinning circle to say it's connecting.

This is my first PC build and I'm not too sure what I could've possibly done, any help would be appreciated.

Hi there Archnix,

What is your OS?

One thing you can start with is to go to Resource Monitor and see whether you have high usage of some of the components.(during these hangs)

You've upgraded all the MOBO drivers right?

Some other things you can do:
- Run some memory testing. In case you can more than one RAM stick, you can leave just a single stick and see if the issue persists.
- Test your drive with a tool that can provide a SMART report.
- Check your system's temps.

Let me know how this goes,
