Old parts, better or new parts downgrade?

Hi, i am building a new pc (Future proof) And on my budget i can get 1150 i7 or 1151 i5 andd the ddr3 ram is also cheaper what should i do? What i want to ask is if i get newer parts, it wont be much future proof so what should i do

Both are good choices. If you are starting the build from scratch and you intend to use mainly for gaming, I would probably go with the i5 (socket 1151) as it gives you access to everything on the market just now and is still a great choice for gaming. It will also have a better upgrade path in the future.

That being said, if you are regularly using the PC for heavy CPU workloads like video/photo rendering, then get the i7.
