Please help! I have a new Lenovo desktop pc running Windows 10. After a power failure last week, my one USB port shows that it is functioning, until i plug ANY device into it.
These devices (printers mostly) work fine on any of my other ports. when plugged into this specific port, I get an error: "unknown usb device.A request for the USB device descriptor failed."
I've uninstalled the USB device in Device manager. I've unplugged all my devices and restarted my PC. I've disabled the power saving mode on my usb devices. NOTHING. the error stays.

  • It is not by cables (devices work fine on my other ports)
The port shows that it is working properly when no device is plugged in.
I've scanned the pc for hardware changes.
I've updated all the drives for everything in device manager listed under USB controllers.

    Thank you for your time!

Thank you for your link. However, everything mentioned in your link, was tried by me (i was on that site before I left my comment on Tom's Hardware)
HOWEVER! I did find a solution, or kind of a solution. After rebooting about 3 times with no luck, and doing the whole device driver / uninstalling drivers/ updating drivers thing, I did the following. I rebooted my pc. Whilst it was shutting down, i unplugged all my USB devices. Once off, i plugged everything back in, EXCEPT: into USB drive that gave me issues, i plugged my keyboard/mouse dongle. This then left my USB port for my keyboard/mouse open.
When my pc restarted, lo and behold, my Keyboard and Mouse worked in this "faulty"...

When my pc restarted, lo and behold, my Keyboard and Mouse worked in this "faulty" driver. I then tried printer 1 in the newly open "keyboard" port. It worked! then I tried printer 2 in the same port. It also worked.

I am not certain what solved the issue, but it is now fixed, and i'm really happy about that!

Thanks for taking time to find me a solution, though :)
