Hi guys, so, today I will sell my r9 380, and I don't know wich GPU get.
I saw that RX 480 has a better performance, but, the one that I can get is the Reference, and all over internet people are posting issues with that card.
The GTX 970 has a similar performance.

It will be safe buying the RX 480? Thank you guys !

Solution
I wouldn't even consider the 970. Not only is the 480 slightly stronger in todays games but it has far superior support for DX12 which will be more common in future games. Have you considered the 1060?

And how about the problems with power and cooling with the reference?

With the 16.7.2 drivers- all is 100% fine with power as long as you don't push with the GPU overclock. Cooling on reference is also sufficient at stock clocks. If you OC, I'd recommend overclocking only the memory, as it gives decent gains for basically the same power/cooling usage.

Sorry for hijacking your thread but I am on a similar situation. Here in my country the strix 970 is 40$ cheaper than the reference rx 480, and the stores have no idea for when will the custom rx 480 arrive, they expect late august, but its just speculation. I really am tempted to buy the 970 because of its current price. I've been playing on the iGPU for 4 months and I am very anxious to play games I've never played like gtav and the witcher 3. Please help me!

Even though I really want to play on my computer as soon as possible (I came from consoles), I know you are right sir, I'll keep waiting. Thanks! Just another question, why do I see so much hate on the reference model? Is it too bad for its price?

You see a lot of hate on the reference model because the partner boards generally run cooler, and consume less power. The reference boards also only come with the blower style cooler which is significantly louder than an open air cooler.

Hello. just get the GTX 1060 :) it performs better in some games plus the cost is a bit similar (i paid $266 for RX 480 8GB Release date) and now the GTX 1060 is 299 or lower depends on which aftermarket brand :)

You can sell the RX, you're in time! lol. I don't know how ZOTAC performs but I've seen some videos in youtube and seems pretty nice, better than 980 in some aspects. Can't wait to have it
