Hi people,

Long story short I thought 600W would be enough. But when I started a Heaven benchmark test the PC shut down and the power light was flashing. I've changed the GPU to an even older one (HD5450) and the PC is up and running fine. Any idea's why it shut down? I'm pretty sure it's my PSU. Here are my specs:

AMD FX-8320e (OC to 4.0Ghz)
Cryorig M9a Heatsink Fan
AMD Radeon HD 5870
12GB DDR3 RAM
1TB Western Digital SATA HDD
MSI 907A-G43 PLUS
Ace ATX 600W PSU

Thanks for any help

600W is more than enough, the issue is you have a PoS that claims to be 600W but likely doesn't even output 300W!

Go buy a real PSU, I always recommend the EVGA G2/P2 line (and now also the Corsair RMx line), all units in that line are trustworthy

Your system probably pulls around 500w at full load. However, your PSU brand does not have a great reputation, I can't find any direct tests of it but I think it is safe to assume that it cannot provide much more than 450w of power. I would replace it immediately with a more quality unit like a Seasonic S12II 620w.

Good guess - it only has 25A on the +12V rail. For £13, I'm surprised it's not simply a cardboard box wtih an inside made of Coke cans.
