Sometimes videos don't buffer as as fast as indicated by my internet speed (50 mbps) without refreshing the page once.

My internet connection is 50 mbps on a wired connection through a modem. When I load a video, sometimes it doesn't doesn't buffer as fast as it should as per the internet speed. Only after I refresh the web page again and the video reloads again does the buffer speed increases according to the internet speed.
Why is there the need to refresh browser pages? Do I need to tweak some browser settings?
If anyone has experienced this problem and have found any solution for this, please inform me.
Thanks in advance.

are you using a wired or wireless connection? this can be caused by an inconsistent wireless link or an old modem. basically your computer needs to resend the request for the data or it stops sending which points to poor connection irrelevant of possible download rate

It works good for a while after booting up. After a while it starts having this problem and usually it gets resolved too after a while. Could a bad link (wired link) or modem still be the problem?

Try disabling any Quality of Service settings on your modem. While QoS intends to improve network performance, some auto QoS could be negatively affecting your network because compatibility issues etc.

Make sure your browser and Flash player settings are up to date too. Does the video buffering occur on some thing like Netflix? Does it affect all websites with videos or just on a specific site like Youtube?

I think I get this problem only on Youtube!

do you have a data cap that may be throttling your connection?

I do, but I am not anywhere close when the issue occurs.
