After new HDD upgrade pc randomly shutdown

Hi everyone, after few hours of deciding i decided to upgrade my HDD to a bit better and newer HDD. So yeah after i swapped out my old HDD and connected new HDD to my PC. So the problem is i can't even install any OS because of one funny thing - my PC just turns off randomly for example max is 3min i think usually it's like 2mins thats it. So could anyone help me out with this one? Had no luck with internet search so here i am asking for help

And btw i tried to use old hdd and it didn't turn off so it's probably the new hdd?

Likely could be some sort of electrical issue with the new HD causing the power supply to clip out and shut off momentarily. I would return/exchange the new HDD.

I was thinking about it, but then i tried not to boot os setup trough usb but trough OEM Win7 disc and it didn't shutdown. thats so strange. on my usb i got win10 setup.

Hmm, ok with that info I would say its still likely to be a bad drive. Once its writing to it there could be something causing the shutdown. Its strange, but the most likely culprit based upon your description.

Yeah,probably could be that, but if i think about it haven't even got that far with usb setup it'š still just reading and then just baam turns off.

All i see with usb is Win10 logo and then thats it.

The only other thing I am thinking is your USB drive is bad and this has nothing to do with the hard drive. Do you have another you can try to install from?

Not really, but i had another dekstop pc where i could fit this HDD inside and try to boot up with usb. And so i tried and amazingly it worked

so any other suggestions what could be wrong with my pc?

So hold on, you used the Same USB thumb drive and hard drive on a different PC, and it booted and is installing?

Yes it was able, but i don't want to do that on that pc i just want to make it all work on my pc. But yeah i think everything is alright with both USB and HDD. Something wrong is with my pc. I don't think it is but could it be that the problems are caused by PSU?

But you said if you try to install Win 7 off of a Disc on the new hard drive it works fine. That points to a USB problem to me.

Have you tried a different USB port?

Yeah have tried all of them. everything is the same. But now i tried to boot up pc with usb inserted and without any HDD connected and it did the same thing - turning off within 2mins. so i'm starting to think it's usb fault as well.

EDIT: i tried too boot without usb connected or HDD connected only thing that is connected is DVD drive. Same thing happend again except this time it was a bit longer until it turned off. So any suggestions?

Ok this is all good information. So now lets go back to your old configuration, old hard drive, does the computer boot and stay running?

What brand/model PSU do you have?

Yes, about the PSU as far as i know it's some old 400w PSU, i will be giving you update soon because i think i might found a solution to this. I reseted CMOS with screwdriver on motherboard and now it seems not to be shuting down. Just need to see if i could get it to windows install.

Update: Mother of god it works

i finally fully loaded Windows 10 from usb, just need to install it. So yeah this thing is pretty strange. As far as i know nothing helped except reseting that CMOS / BIOS thing to default settings. Even though booting from usb on this pc took just 5mins to get loading circle under Win 10 logo. On other pc it was just like 2mins everything :/
