What is the best Radeon graphics card for my Intel i3 4130?

Hi all,

Setup:
Gigabyte GA-H81M-DS2V Mobo
Intel i3 4130 CPU
700w PSU
4 Gig DDR3 Ram
Radeon HD 5750

Short question: What is the best match for this CPU?

Long question:
So I've been trying to learn about all this stuff, and have been getting an idea from sites like "can you run it" and "game-debate". The reason I want to upgrade is my love for Alien Isolation, and want to to be able to play with everything to the max. According to those sites, the i3 4130 perfectly meets the recommended requirement, but the GPU falls very short with only 18% performance! I get to play it on 1360x768 with settings on high, and that seems to give me a nice frame-rate. Looking at their recommended setup, I need to get another 4 gig ram, and the R9-270 card seems to line up with the CPU with a fraction of "bottle-necking". My budget is very low, and really did not want to go upgrading CPU, and I can see those cards on ebay between £40-£50. Before I go purchase one, is there anything I should know?
I see lots of cards being paired with this CPU, but there's not much consistency, and i don't know how much those sites are accurate. (Hard to believe my present card only gives me 17%, which would make the integrated graphics so poor that I wonder why they bothered). Anyway...looking at other games like DOOM, I wanted to know if I would be able to play those with the new card, and to my dismay, the *minimum* requirement for DOOM is an i5 CPU! I downloaded the demo anyway, and expecting it to not even start-up, but it actually did. Settings were the lowest they could go, and the frame-rate was a bit juddery, but I flew through the demo and it was definitely playable (not so different to playing GTA or Farcry 3 on the PS3). Surely, that would be considerably more playable (satisfactorily so) once I have more ram and an R9-270 in my system? I don't think I need to bin my i3 just yet, and wanted to know if you think the R9-270(x) is a good match, and if it would complement an i5 or i7 when I get around to upgrading CPU in the future.

Sorry to be long-winded.

Any advice please?

Thanks

P.S. I only go for Radeon cards, don't ask me why :-/

According to http://www.game-debate.com/can-I-run/?EA, that card would give me a whopping 204% performance; going way beyond the CPU. Would that not be an over-kill?

Thanks

The CPU is a minor bottleneck to the card, as I said yours performs similarly to mine. However this does not cause a performance or play-ability issue and allows you to max out DOOM as well as Alien Isolation (I have that game too) and both perform at very high FPS at 1080p. Much better than an R9 270X ever could hope for, and if you decide to upgrade your system it will keep up with that, May as well get the best value for your money.

I cannot see that card for sale second hand, and the prices seem to be over £200.
I agree that it would suit any upgrading of CPU, but it's really over my budget. Interesting you say that DOOM could be "maxed out" even though they claim an i5 is the minimum. Do you know why that is?

Yeah its brand new so it definitely would not be available secondhand.

Not sure why they claim such a high processor, mine has no problem at all with it and its below the requirements for an AMD processor as well.

If you are looking secondhand I would still consider something faster you may be able to pick up an R9 380X which is slower than the 480 but much faster than the R9 270X

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't realise how much life there is still in my i3. Annoyed that these developers state better CPU's are needed, when that clearly isn't the case. I guess they should not be trusted. It does seem to be mostly about the GPU, but I was confused by the game-debate site when it showed me that graph. Anyhow, I supposed I should've said that I didn't want to go over £100, but maybe about 60. I'm on ebay having a look, and there are some R9 380's on there, but I realise Im gonna have to the full 100 for this one. Thanks for your advice anyway, much appreciated.

If anyone else has any input, please feel free :)
