I need advice for my cpu

Oh boy, I haven't put any thermal paste on my cpu or its cooler for almost 4 years. I didn't really know/care about it or what it was. My computer crashed the other day while playing LoL (don't worry I still won my promos) I just put a new graphics card in and I've had no problems with it. I don't really want to spend a lot of money on a new cpu. My current cpu is a i7 3770 and it's stock cooler. I plan on upgrading my computer, should I just get some thermal paste and go with it or buy a new cpu.

Im new to this and any advice is much appreciated :)

Reapplying thermal paste after 4 years sounds like a good idea to me.

If you have $25 bucks lying around, get yourself a CM Hyper 212 Evo aftermarket CPU cooler, and it'll keep that 3770 real cool.

I don't think you should by a new cpu yet, especially since that entails a new motherboard, and probably new RAM also. You'd be looking at ~$500 for a problem that can be solved for ~$25.

Thank you for the response so fast. I do want a new case because airflow is bad considering my graphics card made the case a little cramped. I'm looking at the corsair carbide spec 1 2 and 3 and the Zalman Z3 Plus. My motherboard is atx and so are the cases, but will the new cooler fit?
