Cannot Activate Windows

I started a similar post but didn't get the answers I wanted, I only got suggestions.

I bought a computer, It had Windows 7 64 bit installed and after I tried to install Office 2010 it said My windows was not genuine.
I've dual booted it with my old Win 32 bit system just to use my old programs until I transfer them across, that has its own product key.

I get an error to say my windows is not genuine, with errors 0x80070003 & 0x80070424.
I followed the FIX It forums and If I run a windows diagnostic it comses up with the 0x80070003 error,
If I try to update its the 0x80070424 error

I have run various fixes but to no avail.

Anyways, I find myself in the position of being in some sort of mad loop. My system restore point will not work,
so I can't jump back to the beginning. I can't re-activate windows or even type in a product code. I'd like to keep all my files and programs intact without dong a fresh install.

So I do I re-activate windows?

Any ideas?

Solution
"I've dual booted it with my old Win 32 bit system just to use my old programs until I transfer them across, that has its own product key."--triggers issues because your old windows saw it was on new hardware. that is why it is running into issues also fyi.

again solution as suggested above is to call Microsoft.

Did you buy the computer used? If so, were you given an authentic serial key.. or was the computer just already activated with Windows 7 (used) when you got it?

What I was trying to get at was... were you given an official serial on Microsoft documents or was it just written down on a piece of paper... or did you just pull the serial off the computer using a 3rd Party Program. I asked because it makes a huge difference. If your version of Windows was not genuine and activated using a "program", the serial key will turn up invalid with a Microsoft Authenticity Check... which happens automatically with Windows 7 and de-activates your copy of Windows. That's what it sounds like but I'm not sure.

The serial number was given to me.
However, lets just take the variable of whether its genuine or not out of the equation. If I were to get a genuine key then I cannot update it anyway. My question is not about whether it is genuine or not. My question is, How do I re-enter the serial key?

The only way to re-activate a valid key that isn't working is to call Microsoft. They will run a check and inform you. :bounce:
