Should I upgrade to Devils Canyon i5, and not to AM3+ 8Core? (From Pentium G3258, I have a socket 1150 motherboard; and I also have AM3+ Motherboard lying around). I am also looking at Seasonic X Series Gold 850 watt.
(I have had 8core amd and liked it, later sold.)

I already have these:
Asrock Z97M Pro4
Pentium G3258
Gigabyte G1 R9 380
G.Skill ARES LP DDR3-1866 8GB
and an old 550 Watt Seasonic
I want your opinion. I don't have a budget, but getting birthday later this year.

Canyon i5 or AMD 8Core (AM3+)?

Solution
I think it would make more sense to keep the current system you've got and switch to an i5. Intel cpu's have stronger cores than amd but it's still difficult to compare a dual core intel to 8 core fx cpu. An i5 like the 4690k would be stronger than either and would make sense given your z series motherboard. With a decent air cooler you can overclock a 4690k as well.
