What actually is my memory type (DDR3)

My memory is reported as DDR3 PC3-12800 (800MHz). Shouldn't it say DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600MHz)?

Everything I see about "PC3-12800" says it is 1600...I'm confused as to what memory I have.

I am looking at a motherboard that says:

Supports DDR3 3200(OC)/ 3100(OC)/ 3000(OC)/ 2800(OC)/ 2666(OC)/ 2600(OC)/ 2400(OC)/ 2200(OC)/ 2133(OC)/ 2000(OC)/ 1866(OC)/ 1600/ 1333/ 1066 MHz up to 32GB

Will the memory I have work?

Thank you. Is that for definite? I read on another thread on here that is tied to the Command Rate, which CPU-Z id's as 1T on mine.

I certainly hope so as I just ordered the mobo I wanted to buy....all the info I can get is saying it will be fine, although the shop I was planning on buying from said no.

(I ended up buying from elsewhere lol)

And I have just hit myself for being an idiot as I forgot DDR means double data rate haha

Motherboard I have coming (due to arrive today) is an MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Intel LGA1150, the PN's for my DIMM's is HMT41GU6BFR8A-PB.
They are a dual channel pair x 8Gb.

Everything I've read everywhere else says they will work fine, just this one person at this one company was saying no. But reading back over the email conversation I had with them I am not sure they completely understood my question.

Thanks for your time :)

I have checked your MB QVL for your DIMMs and the closest match that have been tested are HMT41GU6AFR8C-PB. That is a kit of SK Hynix at 1600MHz
Probably because the HMT41GU6BFR8A-PB. are new and the list has not been updated.
They should be OK. but you may have to set their Primary Timing profile and voltage in Bios. You can get the Memory and SPD info from CPUz.

Which CPU have you chosen.?

This is a transfer. I have an Acer Predator G3 but I replaced the graphics card the other day, but it was a tighter fit than I was comfortable with, so have got a new case/mobo/psu as well. So will be transferring what I need to from the acer onto the new board, cpu/ram/drives etc. CPU is an i7 4790

Should be no problems with your CPU however you may need a Bios update. Not 100% sure but see how you go.

Shouldn't give me trouble as it is on the compat list.

As long as it gives me two little beeps and something on my screen, the rest I can deal with lol

Pity I think I am going to lose my SSD but thats a minor issue I can correct later.

Thanks again for the help.
