Hello!

I'm trying to build a PC for the first time, and I was hoping someone could review and offer any advice on my build? While I have done some research to determine the compatibility of the components and used the PCPartPicker website, I'm not 100% certain if I've got this right.

My intention is to use this computer for basic word documents for university assignments and study, internet browsing, and playing WoW. The types of games I plan on playing, aside from WoW, are things like VA-11 Hall-A, Lone Survivor, 60 Seconds, and Steins Gate. My priority would be FPS for Wow over awesome graphics. As such I do not require a particularly hefty and powerful PC nor do I plan on trying to overclock anything.

I am based in Australia and am buying most of the components from Umart, though I did manage to get my graphics card second-hand for free through a friend and PSU, new and unused, from Ebay. My budget is rather tight, $650-700.

Motherboard: Asus H110M-E mATX LGA1151, 2DDR4, 1xD-SUB, 1xHDMI, 1xPCIe3.0, 2xPCIe2.0, SATA 6Gb/s*4

CPU: Intel Core i3 6100 Dual Core LGA 1151 3.7GHz CPU Processor

Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 580

OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64bit OEM DVD

HDD: Toshiba 1TB 7200RPM HDD

RAM: Kingston KVR21N15S8/4 2133MHz DDR4 Non-ECC CL15 DIMM SR x8

Case: CoolerMaster RC-K350 Gaming Case w/window

PSU: Cooler Master GM Series G750M - Compact 750W 80 PLUS Bronze Modular PSU

Any advice is deeply appreciated. Thank you for reading!

The OP stated the GPU was given to them, by a friend. I agree that a more modern GPU, normally would make more sense, but since it was free, I say use it, for now, and upgrade later. The 580 is still plenty, for WoW. Just because it is old, doesn't make it decent. I believe it can still hold its own with at least a GTX 950. That PSU isn't the greatest either, but will do, for now. AU prices I know are quite horrible. I would go with what you picked, and change out to a better PSU, then GPU, when you can afford to. Tier 1 or 2, for the power supply. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

GTX 580 is last gen GPU. Don't buy last gen things. Buy a better GPU. I don't even know how much that old thing costs now. That's all that i can objectively comment. My subjective suggestion is to change the case to a better (looking and performance) one.

Yes don't get that gpu it's not last gen it's 5 generations ago. As he said not sure what you had budgeted for it (or if youre bringing it with you from an old build however) so I can't really comment on what to change it to. From nvidia you're looking for 9xx or 10xx series cards, amd pretty much an Rx 470or480 are thier main cards right now

Yes I did edit the original post to include that additional information. Am sorry I did not think to post it at the time I originally wrote up the post. So far as the case is concerned, would you mind offering your subjective opinion on the Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-01 Mid Tower Gaming Case? The materials used are a combination of steel and plastic, as opposed to the CoolerMaster's SECC, polymer, and mesh front panel, and the Corsair case seems to have much better ventilation.

In regards to your feedback you're all quite right, the graphics card and PSU are indeed rather old and will eventually need to be replaced later down the track. The GTX 9XX range are within my price range so I'll save up for one, thank you for the suggestion, although I am less certain about the PSU. While I understand that the Gold has better conductivity than Silver and Silver better than Bronze, is it so important to have either Gold or Silver for what I need to use the computer for?

I heard that an Intel CPU and mobo could be compatible with an AMD Radeon GPU, is that true? I've read that in a few other forums but I had thought that everything, CPU, mobo, and GPU had to be either Intel or AMD.
