Hi, everyone. I was away on vacation for 3 weeks, during which my room was infiltrated by some sort of fungi. There were no signs of fungal growth on my desktop and I figured that it would be ok to turn it on and use it.

Boy was I wrong.

Something inside my desktop sparked and it shut down and wouldnt start on hitting the power. A while later I could smell something burning and immediately took off the wall socket and opened my desktop apart.

My first suspect was the motherboard, since I saw the spark from the top of the desktop. Replaced it, didnt start.

I had a old PSU lying around and I figured that it wouldnt hurt to try it. Viola!! The desktop worked perfectly.

So, I want to know if my dear old Corsair RM850M can be resuscitated and brought back to full health with a little bit of soldering here and there.

Basically, I dont want to give up my long lasting relationship with my PSU and would love to have it fulfill the hole in my life.

Solution
if you still have warranty then use it, otherwise try to fix it by yourself if it failed no problem it is already broken nothing to lose
