I have no other users on my private computer ....a dell latitude with windows 7 installed. After weeks of having things as I wanted them, my computer reset itself once again to factory setting for multiple screens and maximum resolution for a laptop. I set it for a large external monitor and minimum resolution. I went through this before but cannot recall how to keep it where I want it. I think I am no longer getting updates from MS because of the change-over, but I can not upgrade this 2 gig laptop so I am here asking how to again. upgrading drivers from dell do not help this issue, BTW.
Next time I will print out the how to, so I have it. I think it is on this forum somewhere.

Solution
Windows will save your settings till you change them, or it detects a different configuration.

Right-click on the desktop, go to Screen Resolution option towards the bottom, the settings to change resolution and monitor layouts are there. Make sure you do a proper log off or shutdown or the options won't be saved if you exit Windows improperly (say just pull the power plug).

Thank you. I have resolved that the issue lies with my games resetting the screen resolution. It does happen less often now, but I forgot about that little matter.
