My father in law does graphic design for a living and asked me to help him build a new system. I dont know much about what he does have now but I know he's running gt610 and he bought the system years ago. He says the graphics are of sufficient quality but he would like something faster. This I think would be the best I could build for around a grand;
I7-5820k
Asrock x99
Msi Gtx 1060
16gb gskill quad Chanel ddr4 (or 32gb for 60$ more if I can sell him on it)

These specs are (in my mind) vs a skylake based system with the same gpu. But I'm always open to suggestions.

I may be wrong but i believe that line had some issues with thermals. anyway going for the I7 6700K is still probably the better bet in my opinion but in all honesty either will work

Well, as I said its not for gaming. From what I've read the core quantity has a bigger impact on performance in adobe than does the difference between these architectures.

ah i misread you there. well if you want cores go for a Xeon E5-2630 v4. more expensive but much better for multi-threading.

True. However, I'm pushing it as it is on cost. He said to shoot for $800-$1000.

Really seems like a lot of people dont like the 2011-v3 socket parts. I can't figure out why.
