I'm thinking if i should upgrade my existing pc for + - 400 eu or build a completely new rig in a year's time for a grand or more:

Intel Core i7 3770K @ 3.50GHz
16,0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 667MHz
Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. Z77M-D3H
3072MB ATI AMD Radeon 7970 Asus

I'm thinking of maybe getting the 480 rx but somebody told me my motherboard is not the best.

Help (puppyeyes)

I use my pc for gaming

No no.. just a random guy in a pub.. i just told him that I'm considering to get the new 480 to try crossfire first time in my life and he told me the motherboard won't take it

Note to self... don't listen to drunks!

Hm, yes he is incorrect and your board will indeed support Crossfire. However I would urge you to reconsider that route, multi-GPU solutions really aren't worth the money when it comes to mid-tier components. You'd be much better off purchasing a single stronger GPU.

So you want to crossfire the RX 480 with your current 7970? There are very few configurations that allow crossfire between two different cards, and almost all of them are between cards that are very similar. Although nothing has been released about it yet, I'd be willing to bet 100:1 odds those two will not Crossfire.
