Had 2 of my USB 3.0 ports go bad and haven't upgraded my MB in a while
Currently have a GIGABYTE Z68A-D3H-B3

I have a I5 2500k Intel CPU and a Radeon HD7800 2gb with a Samsung 840 EVO SSD. Also using a Creative SV X-FI Xtreme Sound card.

Looking at the hierarchy list, both the CPU and GPU do not seem to be in serious need of an upgrade as of yet. (I run a Samsung 27" at 1920 x 1080).

So, looking for advice on a new board and since I have to take it all apart and reload anyway, if it's worth it to upgrade anything else while i am it if the system serves my current purpose. If am going to keep all the components, I might as well deal with the broken port until I'm ready to upgrade multiple parts.

Solution
Keep your current board until you're ready for a platform upgrade. Use a PCI to USB adapter if you need more ports. 775 boards are getting scarce and expensive. Not only that, you may need a copy of Windows if you swap the motherboard and don't have a retail version.

yeah, stay with that board and if you really need those ports get an additional PCIe USB card. that i5-2500K is still a good CPU and finding motherboards for that is a pain in the butt.

I was on the same LGA1155 and my motherboard died... ended up buying a crappy mobo without USB3.0 just to sell the old hardware.
