Hey there, new to the forums. Anyways I bought a decent tower on craigslist for about $60 and will need a little work. I've been building computer since I was about 13, (30 now) and it's been awhile.

Anyways what's the best graphics card and CPU that would be compatible with the motherboard that came with the box? I'm on somewhat of a budget and looking to play some of the newer games out. Just to give an idea I've been playing League Of Legends for awhile, SC2, D3, etc.
Would like to play Overwatch as well as the new Moba Paragon. Thanks in advance!

If there's anything else, please let me know.

Asus M4A785-M Motherboard

RaidMax RX-500S Power Supply - 500W

Nvidia Quadro FX 3700 512MB Video Card

Will need RAM, Processor, and Hard Drive to Function

Solution
Here's what that motherboard will support: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4A785M/HelpDesk_CPU/

I would probably try and find a Phenom II X4 for it, the 940 or 965 should be easy to find on ebay and such. Hopefully you have a recent enough BIOS for those (particularly the 965). As far as the GPU goes, you don't want to go too hard since it will be easy to bottleneck on that CPU. I'd probably look for something like a 750 Ti, 950, R7 370. You could probably get away with anything up to a 960.

Thanks for the help! It's given me something to think on. Just one last question if you could. What would be the best budget Mobo I could buy when I'm ready? I just really want to get this up and running as I've been using a Toshiba laptop for awhile that has an Nvidia card, but it's 7 years old and just not cutting it anymore.

Well I do want to keep it for now, but I would also like to replace it. I'm just on a bit of a budget, but if it wont cost too much then maybe I should just replace everything.

In your shoes I would either
1) Replace everything now
2) Stick with that motherboard until it dies

I wouldn't spend money now only to replace it all in 6 months.

You can probably get away with a pretty cheap setup using that mobo. PIIX4 940s are selling for $40 or so on eBay right now, you can get a 750 Ti for $60 or $70 used, add in another $10 for memory and $20 for a mediocre PSU like an EVGA 500B (both used prices) and you have an okay little box for under $150.

Hmmm wow that definitely seems worth it. I might just go ahead and do that. That wouldn't even be like half a paycheck for me. I'm just so tired of this laptop I'm on now. It overheats so much and then just randomly powers down. I'm ready for a real box. Thanks Timeconsumer :)
