hello, I'm looking to upgrade CPU from AMD Phenom II X4 965 AM3 3.4Ghz 512KB 45NM 125W 4000MHZ. Wondering if you can get a better CPU under 100 dollars that has am3+.My motherboard is Gigabyte AM3+ AMD DDR3 1333 760G HDMI USB 3.0 Micro ATX Motherboard GA-78LMT-USB3.and my graphics card is a nvidia 750ti. I should follow up with the disclaimer that the link above was for rev. 4.1 for that motherboard. If your board is a different revision, let me know. The support list and BIOS versions may be different. There were at least 3 revisions: 4.1, 5.0, 6.0.

It would, but I would like to caution you that the FX CPUs don't really have faster cores (and in some cases they're slightly slower), just more of them. Most games only effectively utilize 2-3 cores, so moving from 4 to 6 cores may not have any positive effect, if gaming is your primary use.
This chart shows the slightly older FX-61xx and 81xx CPUs, and admittedly the 63xx and 83xx chips were a large improvement, but notice how compared with the Phenoms, performance actually regressed:

For gaming, the best you can do is the FX-8350 and OC it. I've had both the 965 Black Edition and the 8350. The 965 @ 4.0 GHz and the FX-8350 at stock w/GTX 960 using the Firestrike benchmark:

As you can see, there's not a whole lot of improvement in framerate, but a significant improvement in physics.
Your weak link right now isn't the Ph II X4 965, it is the GTX 750 Ti. A faster card will show marked improvement.
