Hey everyone. I just got my new PC that I was building for gaming while streaming and recording in the same time and almost everyone recommended the 6700k for the task. I had in mind build a PC that can run games on 1440p 144hz with a stream and recording on 1080p 60fps. Now when I got my PC and tried to stream and record my CPU got to 100% usage overall and then I started checking. Rainbow Six Siege is using at least 60% of the CPU ( sometimes even higher ) as I said I'm playing with 1440p 144hz, 60-80 fps on ULTRA ( When I lower the settings so I could get more fps to mach the hz the CPU usage goes even higher ) Now when I'm trying to stream and record, only the OBS taking about 40% of CPU usage, and so we are here on 100% usage where everything just doesn't work as it should. When I lower the resolution down and try to stream and record on 720p 60fps I got overall 80% CPU usage ( Streaming to twitch 2500 bitrate, and I know you shouldn't stream 1080p when you're not a partner but I'm streaming to Youtube too and there you have no problem ) I tried to stream on 720p 60 fps and record 1080p 60fps with OBS but the CPU usage goes up to 90-98% most of the time. For example CSGO is taking only 40-50% of the CPU but with OBS taking 40% ( 20-25% on 720p ) It's too high again. I tried to overclock to 4.5 but it didn't help at all. So is something wrong with my i7 6700k or I just need a more powerful one? and If I do which one? I'm tired of seeing my CPU going crazy I just want to stream even at 720p 60fps ( Until I'm a partner and then 1080p 60fps ) and record high quality videos for my Youtube channel. Please help me out guys I tried evey setting possible in OBS. The only thing I could do is record with ShadowPlay but I could not use a camera with it and sometimes It just took too much FPS from my game. Please help me
Thank you in advance

I'm not an expert but if the cpu is the problem u gonna need to upgrade it to sth of the x99 cpus the extra cores will give better performance in your case for streaming + Gaming at high resolution cuz i don't think there is a problem with ur cpu you just pushing it to the limit with the high resolutions you working on, most ppl stream at lower reslutions and play at 1080p that most likely why they are fine with the 6700k
the bad part is if you really have to upgrade you have to replace your mobo too since you will need sth with x99 socket
if upgrading isn't a problem for you then you should post your budget

There is 0 need to stream at 1080p 60fps. Downscale that in OBS Studio (the old OBS is no longer supported) to 1280x720 and 30fps, then the CPU usage of OBS should drop to about 24% or maybe even lower, the problem isn't your processor, it's that you are trying to stream incredible resolutions which is an insanely processor heavy task. Also, make sure you only have OBS and your game open while streaming. Pop out your chat and close Chrome, it will do wonders.

If you are deadset on streaming 1080p 60fps, you're going to have to put an insane amount of money down for a new processor and maybe motherboard, some quick research yields that you may require a processor as powerful as an i7-5960x, which cost $1,000 a pop. So unless you're willing to drop 1k on a CPU, I suggest you readjust your expectations to something more practical.

I'll be fine with 720p 60fps, recording and streaming but my CPU (6700K) won't let me. Rainbow Six Siege 60-70%, OBS 25-30% CPU usage. My CPU constantly on 94-99, I think it's too much. I really want that 60fps, if not streaming but the recording for editing. It just cant handle the 144fps, if I get the Anti-lasting on full the game drop the fps to about 70-80 so the game CPU usage drops to 50-60 too and then I can stream and record with overall 80-90% CPU usage. I thought I'm buying a great CPU overall but I guess who ever suggest it to me didn't know that he is saying, It's an amazing CPU but I guess not for people who stream and record at high quality. Now my question is, will 6850K (6 Cores) be good enough? Cause 5960K (10 Cores) kinda pricey.
I wanted to wait for 5960K to drop in price but I can't do what I need with mine so I'm considering the 6850K 3.6Ghz
The question is can it handle 720p 60fps while gaming with a CPU demanding 144fps game while I stream and record and my CPU not near the 90% CPU usage, and the same but with 1080p 60fps, can 6850K handle this? With or without OC ( I have a CPU liquid cooler )
Thank you all!

I know this thread is 7 months old at this point but here's my input. You're stressing your CPU way too much. I have a xeon 1230v3 @3.7ghz (equivalent to an i7 4770). I can stream overwatch with a 3000 bit rate, 720p60fps while still maintaining a constant 120-144 fps in game. If I try to do the same thing on battlefield one then I get massive stuttering and frame drops to 30-40 fps. My solution was to build a second PC with an Elgato capture card to put all the stress of recording and streaming on a separate PC. My streaming PC specs:
AMD Fx 8300
Gtx 750 (any gpu will be fine)
6gb of garbage HP ram
Western Digital Caviar Blue
I'll leave a link below showcasing 720p30fps with the medium cpu preset. I haven't tested it yet but I would imagine turning down the cpu preset to fast or faster would allow for recording and streaming at the same time (maybe at only 30 fps). You could always get a better cpu for your dedicated streaming rig or just use shadow play to record. I hope this helped!
