My processor is overheating (77 degress celsius) to the point in which my computer will shut off if I attempt to do anything to excessive. I have never had this problem and I am wondering what is wrong

I think you are probably running on stock fan which is running perfectly as of now.

Check your cabinet for airflow, dust and check if cpu cooler fan is working properly or not. If everything is good and still its troubling.

Then either its a faulty PSU most probably or otherwise motherboard is dying so VRM cant manage the input current to the CPU.

Could be many things like a bad fan, bad pump(if using liquid or aio cooling), dirty heatsink/radiator, or dried up thermal grease. What cpu cooler are you using? what thermal grease? when was the last time the heatsink or radiator was cleaned? Is the cpu coolers fans spinning?
