I have a Dell Optiplex GX260 and i just bought a Western Digital Blue 3TB Hard Drive and a SATA controller card and when i start up the computer, the computer reads the hard drive in the bios but doesn't read it in Windows 7, what's going on?

Solution
Did you install the driver that (hopefully) was packaged with the SATA controller card you purchased? That's the driver you need. You won't find a suitable driver on the Dell site unless they are providing a SATA controller card (as an accessory) with their older IDE PCs such as yours.
Hi there sethstewart16,

That is really unpleasant.

If we assume that the connection is fine(controller card, cables, etc.), when a drive is recognized by BIOS but not Disk Management, in most cases it is related to drivers.

So, it may be a good idea to go to your PC's website and update the drivers.(chipset)

If this does not work, you can attach the drive to another system in order to see whether it operates properly.

Let me know how this goes,
D_Know_WD :)
