Hi,

I'm hoping that this is a simple issue, even though I couldn't find a solution in related questions.

Specs-

Gpu: Gtx 770 2gb
Ram: 8gb
OS: Windows 10

So my problem comes up whenever I'm playing a game in the past couple days. The game works fine for 3-5 minutes and then the screen freezes. I can hear the game sound and, although my cursor is frozen on screen, I can still hear me making selections in game when clicking around. I can alt-tab out and close the program just fine. This is happening with any game I try.

I ran a furmark and it freezes once the card hits 72c or 73c each time.

If there is any additional info I need to provide, please let me know.

Solution
Is this a recent issue?
Have you made any hardware or software changes?

Sounds like a heat issue to me.
But, normally, 80c is a decent working temperature.

1. Check to see that dust has not accumulated in your card or cpu cooler.

2. Take the case covers off and see if this helps.

3. You can change the fan profile so that the gpu fan spins faster, giving better cooling.

4. Presumably, you are up to date with your graphics driver.

Thanks for the reply Geofelt.

Yes this is a recent issue, no changes in hardware or software. I will definitely open up the case when I get home tonight to see about the dust. Drivers are up to date currently.

What is really standing out to me though is that it freezes in the low 70's. I would understand if it was quickly climbing above the 80's and freezing, but it doesn't even have a chance to get that high.

The card is over two years old by now, is it possible that it is just too weak to handle temps over 70c?

Windows 10 pushes out updates that you can not control.
One reason why I am staying on 7.
I have read about strange issues from the latest update.

Try using system restore to reset your pc to a time when all was good.

What is the make/model of your PSU?
If it is a cheap one, they can deteriorate over time.
