in addition, you would have to pay VAT and import duty on any item over €150 euro's. Meaning the price of 220 is not the final amount.

As SR-71 has said, the selling of ES is illegal. Intel have a Corporate security team that follow up on such matters.

I've never purchased a second hand CPU, purely because you cant take the chance of it being a dud. I'd rather buy new and have piece of mind.

Edit: ES CPU's are normally 'loaned' to OEM's for testing only.

I would have no problem buying a used Intel cpu that was still under warranty; usually 3 years.

If you are looking for a cpu for overclocking, I might not buy used either.
Some outfits buy a bunch and test them for overclocking potential.
They then resell the lesser samples.

Hi LK901s,

I know this may be a bit late, but I own one of these chips myself and from what I can tell, it's really a pretty good deal. I'm overclocked to 3.8 GHz stable with a Z170 Sabertooth M1 (really great board btw) , and I would likely pass 4 if I set up a custom loop.

Pros:
Cost Effective
Better than 4770K (@3.8GHz)
OC'able
You the benefits that come with the Intel Sunrise Point Chipsets (Get Z170 if you want to OC)

Proof If you think this is BS
