New i7, Dimm Slots A1 + B1 no longer work (With Pics)

I swapped out my i5 4670k which ive had for a while for a new i7 4790k grabbed cheap, however when i booted i would get error 55 displayed on the board (ROG Ranger z97 motherboard), thats usually a ram issue so i had a spare ram and slotted into each dimm and the A1 B1 make the pc fail to boot with error 55

I've installed the latest bios, using A2 & B2 (1 red 1 black slot) seems not to give any performance loss, have stressed test and what not.

Also tried re sitting the cpu, and from my eyes i noticed 2 pins off a little tried straightening them but still does the same. Any ideas?

I think A2/B2 gives you dual channel operation, so no performance impact.\
Those slots are sometimes helpful to give a cooler more clearance.

Unfortunately it is too easy to damage pins if you do not drop the cpu in straight.
Asus now includes a plastic holder to help with this.

I do not know what might be impacted by the damage.
Pin damage is not covered by warranty. You are looking at about a $50 repair and some delay if you want it fixed.

At this point, leave well enough alone.

WAIT WHAT? You tried straightening it? That could have damaged it even more, and that is if it was even damaged in the first place. You should be putting RAM in the colour matched slots so A1 & A2 or B1 & B2 not A & B.

First paragraph states a1 b1 makes the pc fail to boot, so it is impossible atm...

And as stated 2 pins were slightly off to all the others.
