Integrated Graphics With Dedicated Graphics?

I've recently learned that there is a way to use both my integrated graphics (on my cpu) with my dedicated graphics. How would that work? Would it only be useful if I were to use dual monitors or could it somehow help game performance?

Your igpu will in no way help gaming performance. It would be like asking if using a 150hp and a 400hp car would make the 400hp car win a race faster.

Most systems will support you enabling the integrated graphics adapter and connecting a second monitor to those ports as an extended display.
