Hi,

Which set up is better in terms of gaming and encoding videos using HEVC?

My current set up is 3 way SLI using the original titan cards and I'm about to get titan x pascal card?

I haven't seen any benchmarks for encoding yet. From the initial benchmarks on The Division and The Witcher 3 (the 2 games I play and can accurately compare) a single Titan X-P is approximately 10fps faster than my dual Titan X Hybrid SLI setup....that is amazing!!! Add in what sounds like great OC potential in comparison to the Maxwell and it sounds like a single (or dual...lol) Titan X-P is the way to go.

Yeah I've just had the new Titan X cards delivered yesterday :)

Using PassMark 8 software, I can see that a single GTX 980 (number 6) outperforms my 3 way SLI original GTX Titan cards labelled as this computer. I don't know how reliable that software as I'm new to all this but it does pick up all 3 cards when doing the test. I've included some results in the pictures below.

Mine will be in Tuesday and Ek full water block(so disappointed in their design, the 980ti block was much nicer) is on pre-order!! Sounds like with the right cooling it will OC to the same speeds as the 1080. I will be running a comparison of my dual Titan X Hybrid setup vs single Pascal Titan X H20 cooled overclocked. Hoping to get a stable 2000mhz and 10700mhz memory, without working around voltage limiter, which will be possible with Afterburner (currently unreleased).

Single Pacal Titan X factory aircooled OC: +200mhz clock / +400mhz vram / 90% fan speed (noisy) / 120% power / 90° limit = 1965mhz clock speed @80° for 147.2 fps avg on unigine heaven benchmark at 1440p ultra, aa off. With EK waterblock: Same OC but practically dead silent = 2038mhz clock @56° for 153.1 fps same test.

Notes: Could OC vram +625 but saw no gains past +400 and started to lose clock and fps above +525. I could probably overcome this and increase voltage.
I saw same clock speeds on air as h2o but as soon as temps hit 62-66°, it had some small throttling. All benchmarking was given 10 mins to warm up prior to starting.
Awesomely fun note and yet very sad at the same time, I am getting a rock solid 10-15 fps increase in all my games VS my DUAL Titan X Superclocked Hybrids!!!!
My backplate is finally being shipped and I have ordered a bracket to support gpu. I have an aprox. 1/2" bow at the end of the card unsupported. I currently have a screwdriver supporting it, lol.
I do not have a custom loop, I use EK's AIO Predator 360 w/quick connectors.
If you have any questions or other benchmarks you'd like to see, just let me know.

+MJDS The first line of your Notes made me instantly remember an experiment by Games Nexus where Steve Burke added a liquid cooler to a Titan XP. Your mention of no gains past +400 on the memory, made me instantly recall it. By any chance, did you happen to see the video last week (below) ?

+rcald2000 Yes, thankfully I did watch the video as it probably kept me from scratching my head for an hour. I would like to increase the voltage to play and I can't get myself to bypass the vrm....maybe in a couple years, lol.

I wouldn't say it's insufficient. In the video he never raised the temp limit to 90°, which is the first thing pretty much everyone would do. I could also do my OC with fan at 60%, which isn't very loud in a good case, and have pretty much same numbers. I think I lost maybe 25mhz on clock vs fan at 90%. Temps were just higher. I didn't log that number but I want to say 86/87°. So all in all it got job done fine without much noise, as I turned fan to 90% purely for numerical reason, or performance loss. I definitely cannot argue against anyone passing this thing up but it is an absolute beast. Spend an additional $400 (shouldn't have to at that price, right) and you've got yourself an amazing AIO w/360 radiator, cpu block and prefilled full gpu block to put out jaw dropping performances....and you don't have to wait ;-)

Thank you for test result, worth to try, I'm doing heavy rendering part and planning to get another titan XP to speed up deadline. I'm interested with water cooled setup you said it would increase game performance base on it heat dissipation ability, have you ever doing dual card custom looping with EK GPU waterblock and are there any significant differences between each card performance?
