X99 Deluxe II
Intel Core i7 6850k cpu
Intel 750 400gb ssd boot drive
(4) WD Black 2TB hhd for RAID 10
PNY Quadro m4000 gpu

I've finally got my new build up and running, yet still dealing with a couple of other issues, most everything seems to be fine. I get an Asus update window that says a BIOS update is ready to install. I install it, everything seems fine, but now the RAID 10 Volume 1, aka my Data D: drive, has failed.

Intel RST says 2 of the 4 volumes are missing. I've unplugged the drives from their ports, plugged them into new ports, and then plugged back into the original ports, and still same results. Volume failed. UEFI BIOS shows 2 of 4 volumes in the RAID. The other other drives are available nut not part of the RAID volume.

It seems the BIOS update corrupted the RAID 10 volume.

Is it possible to rebuild the RAID 10 volume and keep the data intact? I haven't starting using this computer yet for real work, and all data is on my old computer (two drives, in fact) and it was just backed up on a local ReadyNAS. Is it best at this point to format and rebuild the RAID 10 volume, and then copy the data again?

Thanks much. mpp

have you entered into the raid management? our is this message just when regular booting?

you might have to enter raid management via your hot key for it and rebuild the array there.

also under bios settings those drives are configured as "raid" and not "achi" or "ide" mode(if you see achi or ide listed for those hard drives then your bios is not set correctly for the raid causing your issue), the bios reset could have reset the preferences to defaults. which would prevent the raid controller form knowing which drives are the raid drives.

The message I described above is in Windows...

Now this has degraded to what seems to me to be a more serious problem; At first, all 4 drives were visible in the BIOS, but 2 were in RAID and 2 were not. Then only 2 disks appeared in the BIOS, both not in RAID but available. They also appeared in RST. Now only 1 disk is showing up anywhere, BIOS and/or RST.

I've set each SATA port to hotplug. I've checked and cross checked each disk in different ports with different cables, and only 1 of the 4 disks is being recognized. It will show up on any port with any cable, but the other 3 disks are not showing with any port or cable.

I have SeaTools installed, and saw the same progression - first it showed 4 disks, then 2 disks, and now only 1.

This has me stumped. I need to get some serious tech support, I think...
