Hello,
I'm fairly new to overclocking. I've watched a few tutorials (on oc'ing the 1070) and copied their steps. I was able to achieve an OC of 1883 mHz (+200mHz) using Asus GPU Tweak II software. However, when I ran the 3d Mark Firestrike benchmark, and monitored the GPU clockspeeds, the clockspeeds jumped to 2143 mHz. I was wondering why this value was above the value that I set it to, I read that this is because of Asus's build in auto overclocking, is this true?
Here is an image of the OC profile I have set it to and the record of the higher clock speed shown to the left of the profile under "GPU Clock (mHz):

Any help is appreciated. I am a complete noob so TY for assistance.

The only way to know if it is safe is to test it, but it's generally best to bump the clock up a little at a time until it fails, then back it down a bit. It's important to test it on something that is known to push a card to its limits. I am not sure what the best test program for GPU's is.

I did the incremental test like you suggested, first clocking it up 10mHz at a time, then I did 100mHz and didn't notice any artifacts, then I slowly made my way up to +250 and i started noticing artifacts. Then the display driver crashed and restarted itself, I assumed that OC was too high so I clocked it back down to 1883 mHz. Every time I moved it up I performed a test using Firestrike (3Dmark), it seems to be fairly intensive as during the combined test I generally get around 25 FPS. Thanks again for the help!
