Hey. I have a compaq laptop(7years old) and i havent been using it for 2 years. When i decided to boot it after 2 years, screen with compaq text showed up(the screen where you have to hold f10 to entee bios) and after that a black screen showed up with a smal white line in top left corner. I left my laptop alone for two hours and when i came back the same screen was still there with this white line blinking. After that i inserted my windows 7 instalation disc and laptop booted normaly to the installation screen. I clicked install windows and then a screen on which it says where do you want to install windows. List was empty so i went on internet and checked what was the problem. Then i clicked ctrl and f10 at the same time and cmd opened up. I wrote diskpart then list disk and it only showed disk 0 with no media , size 0 and free 0.
I wrote select disk 0 and then i wrote clean. It said virtual disk service error there is no media in the device.
Then i wrote create primary partition
And it showed up microsoft diskpart versision and then
PARTITION - create parrition
Volume - create volume
Vdisk - creates a virtual disk file.
I tried to write create primary partition but every time it was the same.
I tried writing select partition 1 but it said this partition is not valid. Please help

Hi there Matej_5,

Unfortunately, there's a chance that the drive has failed.
My suggestion would be to take it out of the laptop and attach it as a secondary one to a working machine. You can attach it either externally(SATA to USB) or internally(SATA and power cables).

If the drive appears as having 0 capacity over there as well, then I believe it is dead.
If the drive gets properly recognized, then you can test it: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

Cheers,
