Hi guys,

I know there have been a lot of previous threads about this but I was hoping to get a more personal opinion as to what is causing this error on my system. I have read many different threads on this trying to resolve the issue with no luck.

I turned my PC on this morning and got the error message pop up (Reboot and Select proper Boot Device) just after the MOBO splash screen. At first I wasn't able to access my BIOS settings as for some reason my keyboard and mouse wasn't powering on. I checked all the cables in my rig, replacing and moving SATA cables around on my HDD with no luck. I then put everything back to normal and on the brink of giving up I powered up my system once more and BINGO, it booted up!

Once on the computer I decided to test to see if the error had disappeared by resetting. Upon resseting, afte the MOBO splash screen the error popped back up but this time my keyboard and mouse were now working so I reset the system again and went in to my BIOS settings. I tried to set the boot order but for some reason I am not able to do this as it says boot priorites locked, or something down that line. So not knowing what I was doing I exited the BIOS settings and the computer decided to boot to my desktop ... ??? Knowing this I reset my PC again but again the error popped up. So now evertime I turn the PC on I get this error, unless I hit the DEL button and go into my BIOS settings frist then exit out.

Anyone know why this is happening? I am still able to use the PC, as I'm typing this from it, but with the annoyance of having to constantly go into my BIOS settings and exit out first in order for it to boot up!

My rig:

Processor: Intel Core i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40GHz
Graphics Card: Nvidia MSI GTX 1060
RAM: 8.0 GB
HDD: WD 500GB & WD 1TB
Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45
PSU: XFX 550W
OS: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit

All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How would I do that without using a voltmeter etc? If it were dead wouldn't the time and date be wrong on my system? Read that was a symptom somewhere.

Thank you.

I'm not 100% sure. If you look at the image below it says FIXED BOOT ORDER Priorites, and it's greyed out so I can't click it to change. But if you look at the top, just under the time, it says <<<Boot device priority>>> and where my cursor is, UEFI Hard Disk is first. So I'm assuming that's correct?
