Can I ask where you are buying them? I'm considering a RX 470 for $210 (U.S.), and can't find any RX 480 for under $310.
There are loads of reviews and benchmarks for you to see the performance difference. Both are great for 1080p but I always say get the best card your budget allows (within reason) as it will last longer and give you better performance/gameplay for the duration you use it.

That's funny. A question as the best solution lol. I bought a 470 for $185 because I was having trouble finding 480's at a reasonable price. I was not going to pay $60 or more extra for an extra 10% (or less) performance increase. I'm not disappointed one bit either.. it's a great card for the money. Works very well and very stable. Tried Crysis 2 and 3, Dying Light and Alien Isolation so far, and Ultra settings on all. I have no games that tax this card yet. For 2 bills, I'm set for a few years, and thankfully so.. it's been a strange year for display adapters for sure.
