Hello, I recently had to reinstall some components of the Windows 10 apps because they failed to start. This fixed the problem i was having but now my pc does not register that a cable is connected and it shows the red x next to the [/contents/685-ethernet Ethernet] symbol. I uninstalled an Ethernet option under a network tab (don't remember name) in hopes of reinstalling it and fixing the problem. However now, there is a yellow caution symbol next to Ethernet controller. I have tried disabling and reanabling, and updating. When I select update it searches and finds an Intel Ethernet Connection I219-V update option. But then it says information is invalid. Note that I do not have a wifi card , but I have one ordered. My adapter is suposably Microsoft Kernel debug adapter and it lists the driver as an .sys file. Let me know if you need anymore info and I will try to get it, thanks

UPDATE: I fixed the invalid data part by enabling a few options in the services menu. However, now the pc actually attempts to install the driver, after about 2 minutes it says "operation returned because the timeout period expired". I tried using the legacy system to install it and it results with the same message. Also it now says unknown device instead of Ethernet controller on the device menu. I still do not see a network option on the device menu and the Ethernet is still not detected.

Woudlnt using a flashdrive and dowloading it from a different pc be better? Also, I cant seem to find the correct driver. I have a Gigabyte Z170X-UD3 Mobo, I have visited the website and I cant seem to find the correct driver, I have also viewed the disk that comes with and was unable to find anything of use, to my knowledge at least, there either.

If you got a Flash Drive and another computer - even better.
On the disc there should be all drivers available, but maybe they come in a bundle/suite install
Once I'm home I can look around on the GA website (there are better ones, yes) if I find it. It should be on there.

Thanks, I transfered the flash drive over to the PC and started the program. It "installed" for about 5 minutes then replied with, "Could not install because you do not have an Intel (R) Adapter".

are you sure you got the Motherboard you listed`?
is it enabled in the bios?
is it enabled in the system manager?

Yes it is there.
I uninstalled the "Unknown device" and now the Network Adapter shows up in device manager, when i try to install, it says no Adapter, even though its right infront of me. And when i try to update, it times out. My friend has suggested I get a Killer Driver. Im going to attempt that now

shouldn't work since you don't have a Killer chip on your board. or at least shouldn't have.
could also be a Win-related issue.
