so they're not gonna drop the prices just yet
also the GTX970 is a very popular card for SLI
they have dropped in price, but usually the last gen doesn't drop massively in price immediate

970 prices have come down (most were ~$300), but it was a more expensive card for NVidia to make compared to the 1060. I doubt it will fall below 200 unless you're in the used market.

maybe because with 1080 1070 and 1060 there's an "NVidia hype" like when people try to buy the latest iPhone , so everything NVidia is expensive including 970

The RX 480's have had much the same release, even with the reference cooler designs.
